Privacy Policy

Learn to Taste ("we", "us") operates the Tastling app (the App) and tastling.com (the Site). This policy describes what personal information we collect through the App and the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have. Tastling is an early, pre-launch product; where a practice described here changes, we will update this page to match.

Information we collect

Information you give us

If you join the waitlist on the Site, you give us your email address. If you tell us which link brought you to the Site (for example, a friend's link), we record that with your signup.

Information that stays on your device

The App stores the cups you log, the flavors you call, your Passport, your gear settings, and your shot history on your device. We do not operate a server that receives or stores this information, and we cannot see it. If you allow the App to use your device's location, that location is used on your device to sort nearby cafés already loaded in the App; we do not receive it.

You can create a backup of this information at any time from Settings. The App creates this file on your device and hands it to your device's own share function; you choose where it goes. We do not receive this file unless you choose to send it to us.

How we use information

• Your waitlist email, to tell you when Tastling is available and to plan where to launch first.
• The link that brought you to the Site, to understand which channels are working.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not use analytics or tracking scripts on the Site or in the App.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only with service providers that host our website, deliver the App, and send the waitlist confirmation described above, acting on our instructions and only for those purposes. We do not share your information with anyone else, except as described under Optional third-party services below, or if required by law.

Retention and deletion

We keep your waitlist email until you ask us to delete it or until it's no longer needed for the waitlist. To ask us to delete it, contact us at hello@learntotaste.com.

Deleting the App from your device deletes the information described above that the App stored there. We do not hold a copy, so there is nothing further for us to delete on our end.

Your choices and rights

You can allow or deny the App's request to use your device's location at any time in your device settings; the App works without it, with fewer suggestions of nearby cafés. You can delete the App at any time to remove the information it stored. You can contact us at any time with a question or a request about your information.

If you live in California or another state with its own privacy law, you may have additional rights over your personal information, such as the right to know what we hold and to ask us to delete it. Contact us at hello@learntotaste.com to exercise these rights.

Optional third-party services

If you choose to connect a La Marzocco machine, the App sends the email and password for your La Marzocco account directly to La Marzocco's own service to sign you in. We do not keep your password; the App keeps only the sign-in token La Marzocco issues, so it can read your shot history back from their service. This feature is optional, and La Marzocco's own privacy policy governs what they do with your account.

Children

Tastling is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, describe the change on this page.
